There is arguably no letter of Paul more needed and relevant to us today in the modern world than Philippians. Joy, Politics, Suffering, Culture, Jesus, Church, Money, Religion all of it is laid out for us in a compelling way that will challenge our hearts and minds to think as citizens of God’s kingdom versus citizens of the world. Philippi was a city at the center of finance, art, thought, fashion, culture, and religion in the ancient world. Believers there were not meant to just sit on the sidelines or move to a different city but to follow Jesus in both the pains and joys of life, and this letter lifts their eyes to how and why to do that in a way that changes their (and our) perspective on life, eternity, family, culture, heaven, relationships, God, and even ourselves!
